We ruminated over how leaving a Coachella set early can cause you to miss some key moments, like Jay-Z bringing Beyonce on stage (oops!). You never know what chance pop culture milestone you might miss in the rush to catch another band. Say you skip Deerhunters last song, perhaps, and of course Lady Gaga or something shows up right then to sing a medley of Velocity Girl songs with them (the previous was merely hypothetical—no Gaga sightings at Coachella 2010, alas…).

It’s only up for six more days, but don’t miss this one: Thom Yorke co-hosted a radio show with Kspace pal Gilles Peterson on the BBC, and it is incredible! Peterson and the Radiohead major domo go head to head, following each other with tracks that inspire them, and it’s an absolutely thrilling ride! Listening to Yorke’s selections, the listener really gets a sense of what thrills him sonically: a real thread emerges that draws a straight line into the disparate influences that go into his sound.

In what may be the understatement of the century, Thom Yorke proves to be a mysterious fellow. Just as suddenly as Radiohead dropped In Rainbows onto an unsuspecting Internet, he announced a series of impromptu solo shows (reviewed here) this week in Los Angeles for his album The Eraser – never mind the fact that that album came out three years ago: obviously, the routine promotional grind isn’t on the man’s mind.
