Finally, a movie that looks like it just might satisfy sports fans and Oscar voters. Invictus, the new movie directed by Clint Eastwood, belongs to probably the saddest sub-section of sports movies there is: the rugby film. Furthermore, it’s a sweeping historical drama, not a rah-rah tearjerker (Hoosiers) or comedy (Slap Shot) that make up the more successful films about athletes.

Found on a UK sports gambling site, these crazy juxtapositions are obviously taking the piss, but you can almost see their points. Tiger would take any other sport to a new level, especially here in the US. Cricket is still a mystery to much of his audience…
