Woolrich Woolen Mills has become synonymous with retro woodsman style under the guidance of creative director Daiki Suzuki, and became a buzz name amongst sneaker heads and design geeks. Known for their flannel and wool utility outer wear, Suzuki brought the legendary American brand into modern design through his trademark “imperfect” style, while maintaining a balance with the tradition that Woolrich is known for.

California music, or music bred in California as a historic phenomenon, connotes something so specific and so varied at the same time that music itself wouldn’t be the same without the Golden State. It should be noted that California isn’t actually a word in Spanish but a word used to describe a place (a state of mind) in song.

We love telling a good story here at KSPACE, as much as we love playing around with the idea of all things classic – past, present, future and even future primitive. Fela Kuti is classic, in every sense of the word. Timeless, inimitable and trend-setting, Fela fused funk, soul, 70s R&B, psyche rock with Africa’s own tribal sounds, all at once giving ode to US counterparts and his own countrymen we would learn about from his own ascent as a superstar.

It’s a ‘Cold Fact’ that seeing an artist you loved as a child, can be a rather hit or miss affair and up until about half way in this past Saturday’s return of Rodriguez to the London stage, it was um rather surreal and a bit shaky. But thankfully, since my memories of the man’s music remain strong and deep from the scaree grim days of South Africa, I was optimistic.
