Tommy has a leg up on most of the competitors at the US Open. He’s actually seen Center Court under some pretty pressure-filled circumstances more than a few times, and through those expereiences he’s also learned how to loosen up. While he admits that in his early years intensity and doubt took over, at his ripe old age of 31, his ability to go with the flow has been working for him. In fact, after seeing Center Court on all three majors, he’s taking the ups and downs of what he calls a “turnaround year” in stride. This kind of perspective certainly comes with age, but maybe there’s more too it… like his approach to taking New York.
Haas got in some luxury sightseeing with fiancée Sara Foster last week, taking a helicopter ride over the Hamptons. A little more down to earth, he also took in a Yankees game.
In this his 13th Open, he’s scheduled to take on Verdasco next, which could put him on the court with Andy Roddick. And let’s hope that Center Court is in his plans again, this time with eye on the “W”…
