Kateryna Bondarenko Avenges Sister to Enter Quarterfinals

The U.S. Open is a long haul, and winning can often be a nerve-racking trek. So when Bondarenko elevated to the Quarterfinals today, it was a relief and a charge of energy having beat the same Argentinian that beat her sister the day before. Kateryna did it in just 47 minutes in a rout, in two sets. It was an early set at the Arthur Ashe, but the Ukranian definitely took advantage of her sister’s tips in defeating the South American. With women like Sharipova ousted by Oudin, this unpredictable Open could easily see Bondarenko in the semifinals. She advances to meet Yanina Wickmayer, as Oudin faces Caroline Wozniacki. Thank goodness for another wild ride. Game on.
