On the 4th of July, in Coney Island, Joey Chestnut beat the hot dog eating world record at Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog eating contest, and kept the title in the US for one more year. Sixty eight hot dogs in ten minutes. For the third year straight he beat his archrival Takeru Kobayashi, and lept ahead of his old world record of 59 in 10 minutes. Damn, Joey. Personally, I had a hard time downing two, in time for the fireworks display. Hats off to Joey Chestnut for being a true endurance champion.
As one Chestnut fan shouted out during the competition, “Joey means it, man.”
