DJ Premier and Pete Rock have some pretty far-close similarities in their biographies; both were weaned on the earliest of hip-hop, both pull from sharp, deep and disparate source material, both came up in the late 80’s and early 90’s East Coast scene, both came to define it, both are estranged from their former partners, and both are internationally respected yet still obscure in the mainstream (Pete Rock is currently sitting on as many MySpace friends as Brooklyn barely-rock blow-fi blog band Vivian Girls).
So? So here’s the legends doing what they do best, but together, and in goddamn Tokyo. The second is slightly higher quality, just later in the set.
Also, an interview between the two shortly before a little fete in their honor in 2007.
