Rob Da Bank is one of our favorite eclectic tastemaker DJs: he’s as prized for his ability to pull a hit out of leftfield (he was one of the first to play Peter Bjorn and John’s “Young Folks”) as he is to make unexpected connections. So it was with pleasant surprise that we discovered he had compiled for his BBC radio show “Rob Da Bank and Friends” “a magical mystery tour through a cycling inspired mix featuring St Vincent, Boards of Canada, PJ Harvey and Kraftwerk.” On “Rob Da Bank’s Cycling Special,” he follows a surprising bike-friendly trail spanning everything from alternative, classic rock and IDM to freak folk, psychedelic, and even conceptual art (yes, that’s Marcel Duchamp’s “Bicycle Wheel, New York 1951″). Alas, the BBC only allows a stream of their shows for a week, so there’s only a few more days to hear the “Cycling Special,” but here’s the tracklist if you want to make your own mixtape to ride down memory lane at your own pace:
