Its no secret that I have the biggest crush on Philly Soul. Can you blame me? I grew up to the my parents playing The Ojay’s, Patti Labelle, Harold Melvin, Teddy Pendergrass, and Hall & Oates (yes they’re from illadelphia too!). My torch is so intense that as soon as I meet a dj/artist/musician and find out they live in philly I instantly want to hear everything in there catalogue. I figure with such a strong musical legacy you can’t come out of that city sounding crunchy. Its that real! So to my delight Worldwide Underground have invited King Britt, a true Philadelphian music staple, to spin some of that “Sweet Philly” soul at Bar Rumba on Monday, 15 Dec (8pm-1am). I’m sure King will blending in some of the new sounds coming out of 215 and beyond. In the meantime, check out King’s dope remix of Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’ on his Myspace page an a whole lot more here Oh, Oh, Oh! Hit us back with the name of King’s own label and you could win a pair of tickets to WWU-10
