Co-establishing an entire genre – Afrobeat in this case – is usually enough for an artist to qualify as a legend, but Tony Allen was clearly not completely satisfied after doing several projects with fellow legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti. He applied his groundbreaking percussion techniques into a couple of solo projects and collaborations. Right now, Mr Allen is a member of The Good, The Bad and The Queen, a genre-crossing kollective with people like Blur’s Damon Albarn.
