A phenomenal night was had by all at the WWA last night in celebration of 10 Years of Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide BBC Radio show. Jazzanova’s first ever live show was indeed all that ! featuring a stellar live band including vocals by Clara Hill, bass and vocals by Paul Randolph … plus a sensational surprise set by the legendary Marlena Shaw givin’ up plenty ‘California Soul’ ! AND the hits did not stop there – Japan’s Mama Milk were sexy and sublime, Cuba’s Kumar took the jazz ‘n hip hop thang to new heights, Robert Mitchell 3IO gave us the jazz roots, Alice Russell rocked it with her new material, Dorian Concept broke open the funky abstract beats and blew everyone away, and Laurent Garnier teased with a short set (before heading off for a 6 hr set at the final day of The End) – more reports to follow – stay tuned
