Three shades of electronic-music hipster came together this past Sunday, August 29, at the Hollywood Bowl, thanks to a superstar lineup of the Chemical Brothers, Chromeo and Yacht.

This year’s WMC took place from March 23-27, and to get the skinny on how it really goes down behind the scenes, we asked Pat Pardy—one hald of our fave DJ/producer duo Evil Nine to give us an on-the-down-low diary of their time there.

On Saturday, February 27th, Los Angeles played host to two of contemporary music’s most iconic iconoclasts, David Longstreth and his band Dirty Projectors and Kieran Hebden, the maverick electronic-music maven better known as Four Tet.

It felt to me like their recent show at the WF in Sete had soared to new heights – with a mix of that incredible Pimps energy, the oceanside setting with an immmediate packed upfront dancefloor, the new songs (including a stompin’ Pigbag cover) and classics given an almost pop feel if possible from jazz players this incredible !

Woe to anyone in Southern California who tries to put on any sort of non-basketball related event on the night of a Lakers game during the finals. Even the electronic-music nerds couldn’t tear themselves away from the Lakers crushing Orlando Magic 100-75, as was evident to The Field playing to 30 people exactly (yes, I counted) last night at the Glass House in Pomona. Come all the way from Sweden for this?

Just like we expected…a sell out! The Robert Glasper Trio did it on Tuesday night at Cargo to a packed room of hyped jazz/ hip hop heads. The show was off the meter! Starting the show off with a shout out to the K for hooking him up with a fresh pair of SI-18 Rannell (get at it!) which he gladly pedalled away with. Taking us on an odyssey through his top catalogue from Herbie’s ‘Maiden Voyage’ to the “dillaludes” to the Radiohead interpretations – ‘Everything in it’s Right Place’ fo sho !

Yet another sold-out London event from Booka Shade on their mighty ‘The Sun & the Neon Light’ Tour and this time with labelmates Heidi and M.A.N.D.Y. in full effect ! and at least 2 of our Kspacers were up in it – here  is the first review with live pics to follow:
