Read: Murakami talks about running

Haruki Murakami writes – fantastically well as evidenced in ‘The Wind Up Bird Chronicle’, ‘Kafka on the Shore’, ‘Norwegian Wood’, ‘A Wild Sheep Chase’ and countless terrific other novels. He also runs, yeah more surprisingly like as in marathons as evidenced in his latest book ‘What I Talk About When I Talk About Running’. Happily it is not a technical book about running and training but more like a memoir about his earlier life as jazz bar owner, his love of cats (a current theme of his), part travelogue in his journey from Japan to the USA and how running to keep fit has immensely helped his sanity – um his writing, cause some of his bizarre scenarios make me wonder (in a good way of course). It has inspired me to get my lazy butt out into the street, as opposed to my usual out into the night only, so props for that.

I am however looking forward to more of the surreal Murakami – stay tuned for more insight into this fascinating multi-faceted writer.
