Q: Hello Hadley, as you are a heavy traveller, in which City do we find you today?

[column width="47%" padding="0"]Hadley: Today I am home in Munich , but am packing my bags for LA.

Q: We really love your Series about Models at Home. How did you get the Idea and have you done an Exhibition with them?

Hadley: As far as fashion, I have always been more interested in the models themselves rather than the clothes. Part of being a good model is being a kind of blank canvas for people to project their image or product upon. I always found it interesting to find out who these girls (or boys) actually are . Mostly their interests have nothing to do with the fashion world. Some live with their parents, some in “model apartments”…

Anyway, I am a total voyeur and love going into people’s houses…![/column]

Q: Which Sports do you like and and does Sports inspire you? What kind of Sports do you do?

Hadley: I started running about 4 years ago and haven’t stopped since then. And of course photographically, anything having to do with movement, be it dance or sport, inspires me. A lot of my work is about catching the right moment and physicality.

Q: Who are your favourite Photographers and what kind of Sports do you imagine they are doing?

Hadley: Larry Clark, Nan Goldin, Lee Miller, Helmut Newton and Wolfgang Tillmans are some of my favorites. None of them ( except for Lee Miller perhaps) was known for being particularly sporty. I think Leni Riefenstahl was the first true sports photographer. She was also an inspiration for me.

[column width="47%" padding="0"]Q: KSWISS has a strong Classic heritage since 1966.What does Classic mean to you?

Hadley: Classic is something that never goes out of style. I wore KSWISS in high school…I think that qualifies them as classics!

Q: Is there a special Trend going on in Photography? A special look maybe?

Hadley: I think that photography is going to get a bit more back to the basics… first of all due to the global economic situation…there simply are not going to be enormous budgets for tons of assistants , tons of retouching, et cetera. I can imagine photography becoming more intimate and spontaneous again, instead of so manufactured and retouched like it has been lately. I also think that film is going to make a comeback, at least in the art world.[/column]

Q: What can we expect from you in the Future?
Hadley: A book! And a huge party when it is finally finished….!

Q: Tell us about the White Book you shot for KWISS and how did it come about that you worked für KSWISS? Which Series have you most enjoyed?

Hadley:The white book was a fantastic project. It was a book project which I shot to commemorate 4o years of KSWISS. I basically just grabbed my camera and went to London, Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam with some Classics in my bag. I could shoot whatever I wanted, musicians, friends, street scenes, and events. It was a “free interpretation” of the brand loosely sectioned into the different cities. The title of the book is “PLAY”, and I think the spirit of playing , whether music, games, or in life comes through.
