KSpace Track of the Day: Kode9 “You Don’t Wash” Actress remix

When it comes to freaking the beats, Kode9 is the man. As the major domo behind the Hyperdub label, he’s expanded the world of dubstep—and electronic and beat/bass-driven music in general, spanning Burial to Joker to Flying Lotus to Ikonika. “You Don’t Wash” is the latest solo joint from Kode9, first appearing in its original form on his brilliant new DJ Kicks mix, and it doesn’t disappoint in its idiosyncrasy.

Track of the Day: “Femme Fatale,” Aloe Blacc

Aloe Blacc has been a mainstay of the L.A. music scene—as one of the pillars of the Stones Throw movement. He’s a gifted vocalist, MC, and all-around musician, in groups like Emanon and Bee and also on solo albums like 2006’s majestic Shine Through. Blacc’s latest single comes from his upcoming album The Good Things, and it’s a killer—a cover of “Femme Fatale” by the Velvet Underground.

Proper Hydration: Like Water for Diamonds

The ever-evolving sports technologies along with the increasing popularity of distance races have brought up a question: How can, or should, casual racers properly hydrate themselves during training or on race day? Summer Training To Do: Aqua Jogging

The further away from the Pacific you live, the more your chances increase of summer heating yourself out of a training run. Even in low humidity Southern California, the weather can get near unbearable at times. For the days nearing 90 – 100 degrees I’ve decided to try my hand (or legs as it were) at aqua jogging.

Moon Glyph

Moon Glyph was started by Steve Rosborough as a way to release his band Olives’ music. Subsequently they’ve released some of Minneapolis’ best bands on limited, artfully considered cassette tapes (somewhat of an indie cliché, we know, but so is the word ‘indie’), including Dante & The Lobster’s twangy bitch-of-rock age pop, and Velvet Davenport’s twee bubblegum. They are now about to move beyond tapes and into vinyl with one of the most exciting comps (from anywhere) I’ve come across in a while.
