Review: Robert Glasper Trio off the meter at Cargo

Just like we expected…a sell out! The Robert Glasper Trio did it on Tuesday night at Cargo to a packed room of hyped jazz/ hip hop heads. The show was off the meter! Starting the show off with a shout out to the K for hooking him up with a fresh pair of SI-18 Rannell (get at it!) which he gladly pedalled away with. Taking us on an odyssey through his top catalogue from Herbie’s ‘Maiden Voyage’ to the “dillaludes” to the Radiohead interpretations – ‘Everything in it’s Right Place’ fo sho !

GASLAMP KILLER & LEFTO LONDON 17 NOV

People will either love or hate the neurotic genius of The Gaslamp Killer. Think marmite for abstract hip hop. Here is a fair warning for those who will bravely embark on my love crusade for Gaslamp – you might feel a slight pang in the back of your neck from the head nodding sessions, but [...]

MOODYMANN MONDAY AT WORLDWIDE UNDERGROUND

Kenny Dixion Jr isn’t as moody as his moniker may lead us to believe. Sure he may not like to be interviewed and has very strong opinions about music orgins. Moodymann is a straight-no-chaser music man. The only thing that matters to him is that the music is tight. Can you blame him though. Moodymann’s [...]
